It's bokeh wednesday. Wherever did that term even come from? I'd actually like to know. Maybe it's just a flickr thing. Anyway here's me. Again. Feeling uninspired and missing Katie. So I take another self portrait? Why the fuck not!?
This time on my balcony.
I really would like some flashes that i can power down below 1/16th. My Vivitars make it really hard to shoot a portrait at night or indoors. Either that or i could get an umbrella or two. I had one vivitar 285hv inside on the far side of my room at 1/16th shooting through the frosted glass on my balcony door and another vivitar 285 with a blue gel at 1/4 on the ground behind me pointing up. Obviously you can't really see the blue gel effect or the bokeh lights in the black and white photo which is why I also included a colour portrait taken a few minutes later.
Tax return time is rapidly approaching. It's time for me to make decisions. Either a Hassy 500c, a Kiev 88 with a Zodiak fisheye, a Nikon 85-200mm f2.8 or some new speedlights. Of course I could not buy anything and save some money. But that's not really any fun.
I also recieved the new 2020 BMX Magazine in the mail yesterday featuring an article i wrote about our new bmx dvd and several photos of mine. I was going to scan them in and upload to the blog but I opened my scanner to find a giant spiderweb crack across the glass. So I suppose It'll have to wait!
I'm off to bed. Work at 5am.
Peace out.
Sam.

Yo man! I'd probably suggest some umbrellas like you said. They do a good job of shaving some power off.
ReplyDeleteThe light also gets diffused, looks way better than light straight out of a flash.
You can get brollies on ebay for pretty cheap. Oh yeah you already need brackets if you don't have them on your lightstands.
